  1. I know kelpie and jingoism, and hornswoggle sounds pretty familiar, though I can't recall what it means ... what are slumgullion and cheeseparing?

    1. Slumgullion: a stew of meat, vegetables, potatoes, etc. or a beverage made weak or thin, as watery tea, coffee, or the like.

Cheeseparing: something of little or no value.

    2. You never cease to amaze me with how you know all these things. (I've probably mentioned this before, but these remind me of the terms in these Old English calendars I used to get every Christmas, which had a different forgotten word for every day.)
